Group Therapy for Teens with Social Anxiety

Group Therapy for social anxiety sounds like the ultimate oxymoron!

That's one group where zero percent attendance could be reasonably expected!

But maybe not. Socially anxious people want more than anything to connect meaningfully with others...and that is why social anxiety is so painful. The anxiety is a barrier to the connection they seek. And if participating in group therapy to help alleviate social anxiety can help lower that barrier to achieve connection, then maybe group therapy for social anxiety doesn't sound so bad after all.

Group therapy is an effective treatment for social anxiety and by its very nature gives participants real-world opportunities to gain a measure of comfort with their social selves in a controlled, supportive environment.

Weekly limited-size therapy groups for teens seeking to face their fears of social situations are in the planning stages. If your teen is interested in attending, please reach out and let me know - it will help in the planning process! More info will be posted here as the group(s) come together!
