Background & Approach

As an undergraduate I studied biology and chemistry at the University of North Carolina. I have an endless fascination with the natural world and a deep reverence for the intricacy and beauty of living things. This includes a hunger to understand why people do what they do and why they feel what they feel.

I blend that scientific background with a deeply human approach to counseling. Earning a degree in Christian Counseling at Gordon-Conwell Seminary strengthened my belief that all people have inherent worth and value. I am an unselfish listener in-session; my clients know that they are valued, that their story matters, and that their pain will not be taken lightly.

My goal is to help you address anxiety from a whole-person perspective—body, mind, thoughts, and spirit. I do this by utilizing effective therapy techniques from multiple strands of counseling theory, including trauma-informed. The work of Dan Siegel, Gabor Maté, Peter Levine, Richard Schwartz, Janina Fisher, and Bessel van der Kolk have influenced how I conceptualize mental health and treatment goals and direction.

I am currently an Associate Licensed Counselor under the supervision of Matt Bunt, LPC-S.
